💥Rage Is Not A Luxury
You are invited to participate in a screaming session where we scream & witness each other screaming, guided by poet and artist @nenehnoi [www.instagram.com/nenehnoi/].
Bring your rage, and furies to the space. Rage as in anger, but also something to do with force, strength, change, or something alive. rage ≠ a luxury is centred around collectively witnessing each other and ourselves in ugly (abject) and foolish states. This work intends to create an expanded understanding of our own voice beyond harmony and the beautiful.
Built with a series of exercises informed by vocalists/performers, peer to peer knowledge exchange, the punk/metal scene sounds of growling, grunting and screaming, these sessions situate themselves on the edges of playful intervention, informal collective “noising” and introduction to the rougher facets of our own voice-making.
The workshop
◽️ is open to everyone interested in screaming collectively. Priority access for FLINTA+.
◽️ will be led in English, but there will be translation to Mandarin if needed; all languages are welcome; we‘ll find ways to translate where necessary 
◽️ is 100% made for first-timers. It’s okay if you‘re a bit nervous about the idea of screaming.
◽️ will be a separate space with a care person present where you can go to during and after the screaming session. This is a space where people can rest, drink tea, talk, get a hug, write, read some of the (rage) poems laid out, or do something manual like drawing.
◽️ You can leave the space and re-enter anytime during the workshop. No one new can enter though.
🟧 Bring a yoga mat and a blanket!
Know that what the session ultimately becomes depends on your own intentions; maybe it’s just a fun experiment, a performance, a light taste of screaming, maybe it’s more of an emotional excavation. The lightness or depth of engagement is up to you.

📍The workshop takes place in Rotterdam; the specific location will be notified after registration
🔒Unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible, there are a few steps at the entrance, and no wheelchair-friendly toilets.
🕑 May 17th 2-5 pm - please arrive 1:45pm to check in so that the intimate vibe is not disturbed!

💶 This workshop is on 2-10 euro donation basis. However, we don't want money to be a barrier to participation. If you are unable to attend due to the fee, please DM us.
🍵 There will be tea, water, and snacks available.
🔷 You are advised not to plan to many things after the session. As much as you might feel energised, you might also feel quite tired.
Artist bio
neneh noï is a poet based in Belgium. They create social contexts for writing/text, performance, and play to activate each other, wherein they seek the fine balance between pleasure, discomfort, disgust, and fascination. They co-organise Anonymous Poets meetings with Kate Paul and Roya Shadmand, and co-host an open mic night for poets The Scandal with cris e. fidelis.
