Newly imagined ways of listening to histories
Amplified Histories is an experimental session in listening, hearing and feeling stories from unheard voices. We invite our visitors to encounter a collection of handmade and speculative audio speakers: everyday objects built to experience what sound can do when it moves from and through surfaces, walls, ceilings but also bodies.

This tryout is the start of a research into Keileweg as a spatial history, a place layered with questions of industry, ownership and different types of workers. Aside from narrating these histories, we want to transmit them: through vibration and through the way sound travels differently depending on what it passes through.

We're interested in what happens when listening turns within: when you stop hearing a history from a distance and start feeling it move through you by unsung heroes. Be prepared to be curious, to stand still, to press your ear against something unheard.

Why this, why here?
Keileweg is our starting point. Roodkapje sits on a strip of Rotterdam with a dense and contested past. The exciter is a useful metaphor: it doesn't project sound outward into empty air, it conducts it through whatever surface it touches, making the object itself speak.
We're asking: what does it mean for a place to carry its own history? What surfaces hold it and what gets lost in transmission? This tryout is a rehearsal, a way of testing the speakers and the questions before a larger public Happening.

The Hamburger Community 2026 is a group of artists, cultural workers, musicians — with shared suspicions of permanence, and in search of it, still. Their practices are analog by default: handed over in person, experienced live, half-baked and still warm. For them, telling stories is the oldest form of community memory. They treat potlucks as a learning method, broadcasts as entering worlds and textile as a way of holding time.
Together they act as a hot pot: each person flavors a body of water with knowledge they brought in. Nobody owns the broth. In the upcoming nine months, expect collective public takeovers around sound, flavours and exchange — and whatever else spills.
