prikbord.page how-to

So you wanna be on prikbord.page?

Great! Welcome! To get your venue listed on prikbord.page, we need to do two things:

  1. Gather some information about your venue, and
  2. Automatically pull in your events from the sources you already use. Prikbord.page integrates with several platforms, so we’ll need to figure out what works best for your setup.

Info Nights

All steps to get on prikbord.page are listed down below. To help you out in real life, we're organizing Info Nights at Snackbar Frieda. It's not mandatory, you can also just email us.

Upcoming Info Nights:

  • May 29, 14:30-17:00 (This is our official launch at Roodkapje West!)
  • June 17, 18:30 - 21:00 (Snackbar Frieda, event url follows)
  • July 15, 18:30 - 21:00 (Snackbar Frieda, event url follows)

Step by Step

Step 1: Provide information about your venue

Every venue gets its own page on prikbord.page. For example, check out prikbord.page/venues/zip-8. You’ll need to provide the following information:

  • The name of the venue
  • A description of your venue
  • The address and geo location
  • A picture of your fridge (portrait, 3:4 ratio)
  • A description of your accessibility efforts and/or limimtations
  • Contact information for a person we can reach out to directly
  • A public email address (optional)
  • A public website (optional)

Send this information to prikbord@riseup.net or to whoever you’ve been in contact with at prikbord.

Step 2: Automatically pull in your events from the sources you already use

WARNING: Please contact us for help setting things up.

I publish my events on a Wordpress website

You’ll need to install two WordPress plugins first. These plugins will enable your WordPress site to publish to the Fediverse, and our backend can then import your events.

In the ActivityPub plugin settings under "Blog Profile," you can set your "Profile ID." Share this address with us (e.g., "@mycoolspace@example.com"), and we can import your events.

I publish my events on radar.squat.net

We support importing events from any Rotterdam-based Radar group. You can see all events currently published in Rotterdam here: radar.squat.net/en/events/city/Rotterdam.

If you already have a group, please contact us and we will import it. If you want to create a group, please read the documentation. It's free to create and post your events.

I publish my events with iCalendar

We can import any standard iCalendar format. We do this already for Varia. Here’s an example of an ideally formatted iCalendar feed:

BEGIN:VEVENT
UID:3421557834
SUMMARY:Futile Data. Cold War Current: Kunstenaarspresentatie met Francis Hunger
DESCRIPTION:Francis’ praktijk combineert artistiek onderzoek, mediateorie en vertelkunst via installaties, video-essays, hoorspelen en performances. Momenteel doceert hij Emergent Digital Media aan de Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in München en is hij mede-redacteur van Carrier-Bag.net.

CATEGORIES:workshop
DTSTAMP:20250912T000000Z
DTSTART;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20250912T190000Z
DTEND;TZID=Europe/Amsterdam:20250912T210000Z
LOCATION:Gouwstraat 3\, 3082 BA\, Rotterdam
URL:https://test.varia.zone/2025/futile-data-artist-talk-25/
LAST-MODIFIED:20250727T112540Z
END:VEVENT

Some important fields that may not be in your standard iCal feed but are required:

  • IMAGE: the event image
  • UID: a unique identifier for the event
  • LAST-MODIFIED: the last time the event was updated

I publish my events on Gancio

If you already run Gancio, we can federate and include your events. We're currently testing this with calendar.klank.school.

Enable federation in your Gancio admin settings under Federation. You can add prikbord.page via the "add federated source" option. We are '@relay@backend.prikbord.page'. If you send us an email with your federatation URL, we can follow you back (r&r=back style)

I publish my events via an RSS Feed

We don't support this yet but it's easy to do, so let us know! We will add it. Ideally, your feed includes the following:

  • Title, description, start/end time, etc. (the basics)
  • An event image
  • A "last modified" field, so we know if the event was updated

I publish my events on Stager

In that case, we can make use of the so called "Push Feed API". Every time you change your events on Stager, a message will be sent to prikbord.page with information regarding your events. To get this working:

  1. In Stager, set up a "custom publication channel". The URL for this should be https://backend.prikbord.page/api/plugin/prikbord/ping/{youruniquename}
  2. Contact someone from prikbord.page to tell:
    • what {youruniquename} is, and
    • what secret Stager has given you after setting up the publication channel.
  3. Change your Publication settings in Stager to enable the new custom publication channel. If the work is completed on prikbord's side from step 2, your events should be synced to prikbord.page every night.

I use none of the above

Send an email to prikbord@riseup.net or talk to your local prikker, so we can figure something out.
