Kirikou and the Sorceress (1998) by Michel Ocelot
A prodigious child is born in a small West African village, and starts protecting it from the magic attacks of an evil sorceress. Like other works by Ocelot, plants and nature are exquisitely detailed, and the film stays respectful in portraying a culture different than the director's own. Loosely inspired by West African folk tales.
